À la fois grandiose et ironique, la Troisième Symphonie de Gustav Mahler incarne tous les paradoxes du postromantisme. Bâti sur le contraste stylistique entre « haute » musique et musique vulgaire, le premier mouvement indique la perspective depuis laquelle la mégalomanie romantique peut devenir authentiquement révolutionnaire : la perspective minoritaire. Mahler as a Prophet Both grandiose and ironic, Gustav Mahler's Third Symphony epitomizes all the paradoxes of post-romanticism. Build on the stylistic contrast between “high” music and common one, the first movement of the Symphony points out the perspective from which the romantic megalomania can become something really revolutionary: the minority-perspective.
