Résumé. - De nombreux étudiants de Géographie pensent qu 'il suffit de savoir manipuler un ordinateur pour réaliser des cartes. Or, une image graphique est un outil de communication et un instrument de recherche qui a pour finalité de transmettre une information, d'obtenir des réponses, d'affiner ou de vérifier des hypothèses.
La formation destinée aux géographes de premier cycle n 'a pas pour seule ambition l'acquisition d'un savoir cartographique, reposant sur la transmission de compétences élémentaires et essentielles, leur permettant l'utilisation à bon escient de cet outil ; mais également d'être en mesure de le replacer dans un processus problématique. Dans le cadre de travaux dirigés, un exercice leur a été proposé en appliquant une progression pédagogique afin de leur montrer l'intérêt de la sémiologie graphique. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |

Summary. - Many students of Geography think that it is enough to use a computer to carry out maps. However, a graphic image is an instrument of communication and research. Its objective is to transmit messages, to obtain answers, to improve or check probabilities. The formation 's objective, intended for the geographers of first level, is to make them acquire a cartographic knowledge. They must control the techniques of the cartography ; but also to adapt it to a problematic process. During the first working session, a exercise was proposed to the students.
