L'Amérique latine est partagée entre un processus d'intégration et un processus de fragmentation territoriale. Alors que des efforts d'intégration ont été conduits à l'échelle nationale et le sont aujourd'hui dans des regroupements économiques internationaux (Alena, Mercosul), la mondialisation provoque une sélection entre les lieux et donc une fragmentation territoriale sensible à l'échelle régionale et à l'échelle locale. Latin America is torn between an integration process and a territorial fragmentation process. Despite the efforts of integration that where made on national scale as in international economic field (Nafta, Mercosul), globalisation provokes a selection from among places, and therefore a territorial fragmentation, noticeable on regional and local scales.
