L 'Italie est devenue un pays multiculturel. Au début du millénaire, grâce à la dernière régularisation (2002), le profil de l 'immigration en Italie a été transformé de façon importante avec un doublement de la présence totale. La distribution sur le territoire est inégale, avec une forte présence dans les régions du Nord et du Centre. Il s'agit d'un phénomène surtout urbain et les villes sont devenues les vraies portes de l'immigration. Italy has become a multicultural country. At the beginning of the millenium, thanks to the last regularization (2002), the profile of the immigration in Italy was transformed in a important way with a doubling of the total presence. The distribution on the territory is uneven, with a strong presence in the North and in the Center regions. It is mostly an urban phenomenon and cities became the « gateways of the immigration ».
