| Résumé |
Si, après quinze années de guerre, le Liban entame une double reconstruction
physique (rénovation du tissu urbain) et morale (reconstitution du lien social et
réconciliation intercommunautaire), les appartenances et les allégeances communautaires structurent encore profondément la société libanaise. L'observation des
principaux clubs de football de Beyrouth montre combien le confessionnalisme
demeure à la fois un support de la partisanerie sportive et un élément structurant de
l'identité des supporters. Mais, s'il est dominant, le référent communautaire ne
saurait rendre intelligible à lui seul les dynamiques et tensions affectant le football

If, after fïfteen years of war, Lebanon begins a double reconstruction, physical
(renovation of the urban tissue) and moral (reconstitution of the social link and
inter-communities réconciliation), the communal memberships and allegiances still
deeply structure the Lebanese society. The observation of the major football clubs
in Beirut shows how much religion remains both a support for sports sectarism and
an element of structure for the supporters'identity. But even though the communal
referent is prominant, it is not enough to make dynamics and tensions affecting
Beirutian football understandable by itself: multiple records of action – notably
