The intellectual history uses right and left political categories without regard as to their application to cultural worlds and their significance. The article presents an analysis on this topic based on the study of the logic of importation of the political right/left categorisation in the French literary field and of the way this categorisation evolved from the end of the 19th century to the 1950's.
