| Résumé |
L'histoire de la justice française contemporaine est en plein essor, particulièrement depuis la dernière
décennie. Cet article montre que les premiers secteurs explorés – l'histoire pénale surtout : répressions politiques, criminalité, emprisonnement – l'ont été dans le prolongement d'une histoire attentive à l'évolution
de la société française à partir de la fin des années 1960. L'orientation nouvelle vers les domaines encore
peu travaillés – institutions et pratiques judiciaires, justice civile, notamment – se fait en écho à la montée
en puissance du pouvoir judiciaire, à la situation de crise du dernier quart du XXe siècle et aux interrogations nouvelles de la recherche historique. S'il reste encore beaucoup à faire, on commence à entrevoir la
possibilité de travailler à une histoire sociale de la justice qui s'efforce d'appréhender ensemble représentations, normes, institutions et pratiques. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |

The history of the contemporary French justice is rapidly expanding, particularly for the last decade. This
article shows that the first investigated sectors – the penal history especially: repressions politics, crime,
detention – were it in the continuation of a history attentive to the evolution of the French society from
the end of 1960's. The new orientation towards domains still little worked – institutions and judicial practices, civil justice, notably – is made in echo on the way up in power of the judiciary, in the situation of
crisis of the last quarter of the XXth century and in the new questioning of the historic research. If it
remains still a lot to do, one begins to suspect the possibility of working on a social history of the justice
