Images embrouillées, combinaisons imprévisibles : l'origine du rêve a toujours fait problème. La démarche freudienne a mis au jour une signification, elle n'a pas totalement levé l'énigme ; l'ombilic, le point nodal du rêve résiste à l'investigation. Freud a fondé sa démarche sur son auto-analyse, montrant ainsi que l'interprétation revient, en dernière instance au rêveur ; le rêve est lové au fond de nous-mêmes, porteur de craintes et de désirs, lié à l'enfance, enchanteur et mystérieux, tellement intime qu'il devient parfois indicible, et qu'il revient à l'analyste d'aider à le délivrer. Confused images, unpredictable combinations : the origin of dreams has always been a problem. Freud's theory has proposed a meaning, it has not entirely solved the mystery ; the umbilicus, the nodal point of the dream resists investigation. Freud founded his thesis on self-analysis, thus proving that the interpretation ultimately belongs to the dreamer ; the dream is curled up inside ourselves, carrying fears and desires, related to childhood, enchanting and mysterious, so intimate that it sometimes becomes unspeakable, and that the analyst's work is to help delivering it.
