Moments d'une histoire violente inscrits dans un décor de pierre, fidèle jusqu'à l'obsession photographique au Paris réel. Aussi, roman populaire, mélodrame même, qui viennent battre sur la trame tragique des événements. The four volumes of Le Cri du peuple by Tardy show Paris during the Commune and feature a number of historical events, from the Proclamation of March 18th to the “Bloody week”, at the end of May. Moments of a violent history, engraved in a stone setting, faithful to the point of photographic obsession to the real Paris. A popular novel, even a melodrama, woven on the tragic framework of events. It is a graphic series about the Commune, as much as about Paris – a dated Paris but also an eternal Paris, this eternity of the 19th century which Tardi seems to be so fond of.
