| Résumé anglais | Combat and the Algerian war, Anne-Marie Duranton-Crabol. Born during the Resistance, was the daily newspaper Combat so favorable to French Algeria that it manifested sympathy for the OAS? The reality was more complex. The paper attempted to reconcile its dream of a fraternal Algeria with non-negligible help to the nationalist and anti-gaullist team of Esprit public, while keeping its unfailing commitment to opinion pluralism. The contradictions of the paper help us measure the scope of the national crisis brought about by the Algerian tragedy. | |
