La sphère de Dyson est une mégastructure bâtie autour d'une étoile, qui en capte la lumière et la transforme en énergie. Bien que cette mégastructure n'ait jamais été observée et reste imaginaire, elle a été considérée comme une piste de recherche possible pour rendre compte des données collectées sur une étoile lointaine : KIC8462852. La sphère de Dyson, avant d'être une hypothèse de recherche, est une idée née de la lecture qu'un scientifique, Freeman Dyson, a faite d'un roman de science-fiction, Le Créateur d'étoiles d'Olaf Stapledon. En suivant le parcours de légitimation scientifique de cet objet et en analysant les discussions qu'il suscite, on relève différents types d'interférences entre la science et la science-fiction : l'inspiration, la référence et l'inversion des rôles entre l'une et l'autre. The Dyson sphere is a megastructure built around a star to harness its light and transform it into a source of energy. Although the existence of this megastructure has yet never been proven, it has been considered as possible explanation for the anomaly constituted by the observations of a distant star: KIC8462852. The Dyson sphere is a concept created by the scientist Freeman Dyson, after reading the science fiction novel Star Maker by Olaf Stapledon. While following the scientific legitimation process of this object and analyzing the discussions that it spurred, this article aims at describing different modes of interferences between science and science fiction: inspiration, reference, and reversal of roles between one another.
