La réforme de l'organisation territoriale de la République votée par le Parlement en 2015 a modifié la carte et la dénomination des régions françaises. L'Occitanie est l'une des rares d'entre elles à avoir gagné un nom qui avait divisé et fait polémique : il avait été le résumé de revendications culturelles, politiques et sociales orientées contre l'État après le mouvement de Mai 1968. The reform of the territorial organization of the Republic voted by the Parliament in 2015 modified the map and the denomination of the French regions. Occitanie is one of the few among them to have gained a name that had been the object of division and polemic : it had been the focus of cultural, political, and social claims directed against the State after the movement of May 1968.
