	Résumé	L'arrêt Blanco du 8 février 1873 est généralement présenté comme le point de départ, ou la renaissance, c'est selon, du droit administratif français. S'appuyant sur un matériau – les archives de l'affaire à Bordeaux et au Tribunal des conflits – jusqu'à présent étonnamment délaissé, l'article revisite le contexte de l'arrêt, les débats qui ont suivi sa relecture et l'impact que ceux-ci ont eu sur la structuration de la discipline. En privilégiant un point de vue sociohistorique, nourri par des sources à la fois primaires et secondaires, il entend démontrer que l'utilisation d'outils sociologiques tels que la théorie des champs, la sociologie des professions ou l'histoire sociale des sciences sociales permet d'éclairer sous un jour nouveau la légende née de cette célébrissime affaire. 	Résumé anglais	The Blanco case of February 8, 1873 is usually presented as either the starting point or the rebirth of French administrative law. Grounded on material – the archives of the case in Bordeaux and at the Tribunal des conflits – that has been surprisingly neglected until now, the article takes another look at the context of the affair, the controversy over its reinterpretation, and the impact it had on how the discipline was shaped. Relying on a socio-historical outlook and fed by both primary and secondary sources, its aim is to show the use of sociological tools, such as field theory, sociology of professions, and the social history of the social sciences, can shed new light on the legend that arose from this extremely famous case.
