French discourse in the structure of journals by n. M. Karamzin
The article dwells on the elements of French discourse contained in the periodicals by N. m. Karamzin. the journals he founded and published were the best for their time, as Karamzin has successfully used the experience of European journals, primarily the French ones. In The Moscow Journal (1791-1792) and vestnik Evropy (the messenger of Europe, 1802– 1803) the French matter was represented by belles-lettres, literary criticism, philosophical and political essays on the one hand and by structural elements borrowed from the most popular French newspapers and journals of that time on the other hand. In his Aglaia (1794-1795) and Pantheon of Foreign Literature (three volumes, 1798) Karamzin published his own translations of the best kind of exemplary French literary works of various genres.
In The Moscow Journal Karamzin managed to integrate French, English and german discourse to provide the foundation for philosophy, aesthetics and poetics of sentimentalism, while vestnik Evropy, where the current affairs taking place in France were ventilated, served as a polemical context necessary to clear out the historical situation in Europe. generally speaking, the French models had an impact on the structure of the journals as well as on the genres of sentimental novel, theatrical reviews, vocabulary and phraseology of N. m.
