Résumé anglais Winners and Losers Making Acquaintance The Russians in France (1814-1818) The end of the Napoleonic wars causes the arrival of the troops of the anti-Napoleonic coalition in France in 1814. Napoleon's attempt to return to power leads to a partial occupation of the country from 1815 to 1818. The subject of this article is the anthropological aspect of theses events : the mutual perception of the winners (the Russians) and the losers (the French). Indeed, the forced neighborliness invites to (re) consider preexisting mutual perceptions and to create some new images. Russian soldiers discover the real life in France and they are disappointed with it, but also they admire it. And the French overcome their fear of the most unknown and the most powerful of all of theirs rivals and “ calm down” with the thought of the superiority of their culture.
