Le passage à la projection numérique dans les salles de cinéma ne se résume pas à un simple changement de support de projection filmique. Les mutations que ce nouveau paradigme technologique engendre, invisibles pour les spectateurs, ont des effets bien tangibles sur le devenir des métiers et sur l'organisation du secteur cinématographique. Cet article cherche à rendre compte des principales mutations structurelles et organisationnelles du secteur de la diffusion cinématographique – distribution et exploitation – causées par cette innovation technologique. Il s'agit plus spécifiquement de montrer que l'arrivée du numérique en France dans ce secteur bouleverse l'organisation des métiers traditionnels de la diffusion, redéfinit une partie de leur rôle et fait apparaître de nouveaux enjeux ayant des répercussions sur les stratégies et le devenir des acteurs. The transition to digital technology in cinemas implies more than simply a different film projection medium. The changes that this new technological paradigm entails, which are invisible to viewers, tangibly impact the future of professions and the organization of the film industry. This article seeks to capture the main structural and organizational changes in the film distribution and exploitation sector caused by this technological innovation. More specifically, it shows that the arrival of digital technology in this industry in France is disrupting the organization of traditional broadcasting professions, partially redefining their role and raising new issues with repercussions on the players' strategies and future.
