Le métier des armes et l'engagement dans les ordres, vocations entretenant des rapports privilégiés avec le sacré, présentent de fortes similitudes. Parmi les points de convergence, on relève notamment un comportement sacrificiel vis-à-vis d'une cause transcendante, le primat de l'autorité et une existence solidement ancrée dans une communauté fermée.Cependant, ces correspondances ne doivent pas faire oublier qu'au cours de l'Histoire, un certain nombre de divergences ont également séparé institution militaire et institution religieuse, parmi lesquelles on compte le rapport à la mort, à la foi et aux mœurs.Aujourd'hui, par le truchement de l'aumônerie militaire, qui tient lieu d'interface entre les deux ministères, mais aussi avec l'effacement progressif, au sein de l'armée, de l'éthique guerrière, un nouveau rapprochement semble s'amorcer. There are strong similarities between becoming a soldier and joining the orders, both vocations having a privileged relationship with the sacred. Among the meeting points between the two, we especially notice a sacrificial behaviour towards a transcendental cause, as well as the primacy of authority and an existence firmly entrenched in a closed community. However, these similarities must not let one forget that, in the course of History, military institution and religious institution were also separated by a certain number of differences, among which the relationship with death, with faith and with morals. Today, with the aid of military chaplaincy, which serves as an interface between the two ministries, and also with the gradual elimination of war ethics within the army, there seems to be signs of reconciliation.
