Résumé anglais In French, the word “Zone” seems to belong in that huge category of catch-all words that pollute the French language with their imprecise meanings. Between the literal meaning of “a space at the margins” and the figurative meaning of “a marginal world”, each informing the other, we can nonetheless begin to discern the specific characteristics of a highly original territory. If we understand the term “zone” not in the generic sense of “a segment of territory” but rather in the qualitative sense of an intermediate, shifting and dynamic space, it is then up to the tactician to plan control from a viewpoint that is no longer purely mechanistic, provided we accept a rather unlikely combination: a hybrid of life and technology, in other words, provided we accept Apollinaire and the robots.
