	Résumé	La figure de l'étranger permet traditionnellement de se poser en s'opposant, de se définir en creux, de situer le cadre spatio-temporel de son existence, individuelle autant que collective. Mais lorsque l'étranger est en soi, intérieur, l'identité elle-même vole en éclats. L'œuvre d'Albert Camus met en scène cet évidement d'un monde qui implose, à partir du for intérieur, lieu habituel de l'intime conviction. Outre la question de l'absurde, L'Étranger pose la question de la maîtrise et de la connaissance de soi, de l'altération momentanée du discernement dans le crime jusqu'à la précarité fondamentale de l'identité de l'individu « normal ». 	Résumé anglais	Conventionally, acting as an outsider makes it possible to present yourself in opposition, to define yourself “below the surface” and to situate the spatial and temporal context of your existence, both individual and collective but, when the outsider is inside yourself, identity itself is shattered. Albert Camus' book portrays this hollowing-out of a world that is imploding from deep down inside the self, where one's most inner convictions are normally found. In addition to the question of the absurd, The outsider raises the question of self-control and self-knowledge, the temporary impairment of judgement when committing a crime and even the fundamental precariousness of the identity of a “normal” individual.
