Saïd Ferdi se fit connaître en 1981 par une autobiographie titrée Un enfant dans la guerre, dans laquelle ce Français d'origine algérienne raconte comment il fut confronté à la guerre dès l'enfance : entre huit et quinze ans, il fut chahuté d'un camp à l'autre, du fln à l'armée française, sans que ni l'un ni l'autre ne puisse le protéger. Symptomatiquement, à aucun moment de son récit il ne porte de jugement sur les protagonistes de son étrange destin : entré dans la guerre enfant, il y est resté avec son jugement d'enfant. Saïd Ferdi became known in 1981 with his autobiography entitled Un enfant dans la guerre. In it, this Algerian-born Frenchman describes how he experienced war right from childhood. Between the age of eight and fifteen, he was pushed from one side of the conflict to another, from the FLN to the French army, with neither side able to protect him. Symptomatically, not once in his story does he pass judgement on the protagonists of his strange destiny. He entered the war as a child, and his judgement remains that of a child today.
