Dans notre article, nous abordons la notion du « roi clandestin » de Simmel à travers deux figures : celle de Egon Friedell et de Max Raphael. Si Egon Friedell, disciple de Karl Kraus, qui a écrit son célèbre Kulturgeschichte der Neuzeit, disait quelque chose de similaire à ce que Simmel a qualifié de « roi clandestin » : chaque époque, chaque époque - dit Friedell - a son idée, son concept, sa mode et même son style de mobilier ; de l'autre côté Max Raphael, historien de l'art qui, comme Bloch, était un étudiant de Simmel, s'inspire de la notion simmelienne dans son concept de « histoire de l'art empirique ». In this article, we discuss Simmel's concept of the “hidden king” through two figures: Egon Friedell and Max Raphael. Egon Friedell, a disciple of Karl Kraus, who wrote Kulturgeschichte der Neuzeit, thought along the same lines as Simmel, who described a “clandestine king,” considering that every epoch, every era, has its specific idea, concept, fashion, even style of furniture. Max Raphael, on the other hand, was an art historian, and, like Bloch, a student of Simmel.
