Abstract. — The influence of urban growth on contemporary changes in the Northern Alpine milieu as based on a study of family units. Family units have been taken here as epitomizing the change in the social and geographical milieu of the Northern French Alps between 1954 and 1975. Under the influence of urban growth, their structures and behaviour have undergone both uniformity and différenciation. The movements that have taken place on a large scale among a mobile population have replaced the basic attitudes of the more deeply-rooted population. The influence of the mountain environment on demography had faded. The communities with the fastest growth appear vulnerable, especially when they are small. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
