Summary. — At the edge of the Alps, the country around the small city of Voiron knows nowadays many changes. In the past, with its papermills and textile factories, Voiron was the core of a small region and became a really indépendant unit. To-day, because of the growth of bigger towns and especially this one of Grenoble, the city of Voiron and its neighbourhoods are more and more included in the urban area of the alpine major agglomeration. We see many kinds of activities which are migrating to the « main street » i.e. the Isère-valley between Voreppe and Moirans. There is in this part of the alluvial plain more space to develop an industrial area and the location near the railway-line and the highway gives more advantages than staying in the old city of Voiron.
