Résumé. — Comme toutes les entreprises, les communes françaises ont été affectées par la crise. Mais leur réaction a été différente selon les régions. Dans l'Est, elles ont limité l'investissement; dans le Midi, l'effort d'équipement ne faiblit pas; de même dans les régions atlantiques, mais à la différence des régions méridionales, il s'accompagne d'une épargne plus importante. Auvergne et Limousin gèrent la crise en développant à la fois l'investissement et l'épargne; Nord-Pas-de-Calais continue de limiter ses engagements financiers au strict minimum; les communes de l'Ile-de-France et de Rhône-Alpes, qui sont riches, supportent la crise sans que leur capacité financière en soit affectée. Abstract. — Small French administrative units (communes) have been affected by the crisis like all private companies. But their reactions have varied from one region to another according to the country. In the East investment has been reduced; in the South, outlays on infrastructure have been maintained. The situation is similar on the atlantic seabord, but there, in contrast with the South, it has gone hand in hand with more substantial savings. The Auvergne-Limousin regions are coping with the crisis by developing both investment and savings. The Nord-Pas-de-Calais area has continued to restrict their financial commitments to the bare minimum. In the Ile-de-France and Rhône-Alpes regions the local administrative units are more wealthy and have proved able to cope with the crisis without their financial rersources being adversely affected. Consequently, the ways in which the various local administrative units are facing the crisis are different enough for us to be able to speak of regional behavioural patterns.
