Résumé L'invention du chalet. Henry-Jacques Le Même, architecte à Megève The invention of the chalet.

Résumé anglais The chalet has not always existed. As a form of tourist accomodation, it was « invented » at the end of the 1 920s in Megève, the first French winter sports resort, by the architect Henry-Jacques Le Même. A product of two cultures, those of the mountain and the town, the chalet was certainly a new architec- tural object which gave shape, meaning and a concrete expression to the new relationships then developing between the visitor and the mountain environment.
