Modifications de l'hydrologie du Séran (affluent du Haut-Rhône Français-Ain) de 1976 à 1995 Modifications in the hydrology of the Seran river (tributary of the French Upper Rhône) Stéphane Veyrat-Charvillon André Ponsero Résumé : Depuis de nombreuses années nous connaissons l'intérêt écologique des zones humides. Pourtant nous voyons encore de nos jours des travaux, aménagements humains, visant à assécher les marais. Une étude hydrologique a été menée sur le bassin-versant du Séran (plus de 200 km2) afin de mieux comprendre, dans sa globalité, l'évolution hydrologique d'un marais, et permettre ainsi une meilleure gestion de la Réserve Naturelle du Marais de Lavours. Cette étude met en évidence l'impact considérable de l'aménagement hydroélectrique mis en place sur le Rhône par la Compagnie Nationale du Rhône en 1982, sans oublier l'influence d'autres aménagements tels que les drainages agricoles. The ecological importance of wetlands has been recognised for many years, yet public works, planning and development programmes to drain marshlands are still being undertaken today. A hydrological study of the drainage basin of the Seran river (covering more than 200 km2) was carried out with a view to obtaining a better overall understanding of the hydrological development of a marsh, and thereby providing valuable input for improving the management of the Lavours Marshland Nature Reserve. The study reveals the considerable impact of the hydro-power scheme on the Rhône implemented by the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (Rhône Water Board) in 1982, as well as the effects of other development works such as agricultural drainage projects.
