| Résumé |
La précarisation atomise, divise, segmente, déstructure les solidarités. La mise à mal des liens familiaux et des collectifs de travail, le retrait syndical en sont des exemples frappants. De là, à associer précarisation et individualisme, il n'y a qu'un pas. Pourtant, l'ampleur et l'intensité des mouvements sociaux de 1995, le mouvement des chômeurs ainsi que leur soutien populaire, cadrent mal avec cette idée. L'hypothèse est donc que la précarisation sociale, en tant que processus structurel de fragmentation, institutionnalise l'instabilité mais engendre aussi des comportements de résistance et solidarité, où les femmes tiennent une place importante. Trois récits de vie de femmes frappées par le chômage vont aider à comprendre ce paradoxe et permettre d'étayer une autre hypothèse : la précarisation sociale, en se généralisant et en s'approfondissant, génère aussi une condition commune dont la conscience individuelle et collective commence à apparaître. Béatrice Appay : Unemployed women : From revolt to resistance.
Casualisation atomises, divides, fragments and destructures soldiarity networks. The disorganisation of family links, of collective work organisation, the decline in trade unions, are striking examples of this. To go from there to the association of casualisation and individualism is just a step. However the scope and intensity of the social movements of 1995 and the unemployed moment do not fit very well with this idea. The hypothesis is therefore that social precarity, as a structural process of fragmentation, insitutionalises instability but also creates forms of resistance and solidarity in which women have an important role. The experiences of three women affected by unemployment help in understanding this paradox and make it possible to develop another hypothesis : social precarity, as it becomes more general and deeper, will also generate a common situation of which people will begin to become individually and collectively conscious.
