Cet article examine l'évolution du capital social en Grande-Bretagne depuis 1950
afin d'en relever un éventuel déclin et de souligner les changements intervenus. Il
utilise pour ce faire la définition de Putnam de capital social et les normes de confiance qui y sont associés. Il tente d'expliquer les tendances relevées et les facteurs
déterminant les niveaux de capital social analysés. En guise de conclusion, il apporte quelques considérations sur la conceptualisation du capital social et de ses

Social capital in Great Britain.
This article explores the evolution of social capital in Great Britain since 1950 in
order to identify a possible decline and highlight the changes that have taken place.
To do this, it uses Putnam's definition of social capital and its associated norms of
reciprocity. It attempts to explain the trends that are revealed and the factors which
account for the analysed levels of social capital. In guise of a conclusion, it offers
