En France, depuis sa création à la fin du XX e siècle, le travail social n'a cessé de s'adapter aux changements politiques et sociaux, en s'élargissant au secteur de l'intervention sociale afin de répondre à la question sociale. Cette évolution a permis de prendre en charge les plus fragiles au cours du temps, mettant en exergue un corps qu'il faut assister, éduquer, gérer, soulager. Deux variables apparaissant essentielles comme support à ce processus d'évolution et d'adaptation du travail social français : les pratiques et les formations professionnelles. In France, since its creation at the end of the 20th century, social work has been constantly adapting to political and social changes, expanding into the field of social intervention in order to respond to the social question. This evolution helped to take care of the most fragile over time, highlighting a body that must be attended, educated, managed, relieved.
