Depuis une vingtaine d'années, l'humanitaire a suffisamment investi le débat public et social français, pour qu'on s'interroge aujourd'hui sur l'existence d'une « École française » d'analyse de l'humanitaire au sein de la discipline des relations internationales. Cette spécificité française s'apprécie au regard de trois évolutions. L'apport des chercheurs issus du monde de l'humanitaire a permis de mener une réflexion à partir de leurs expériences sur le terrain. Quant à elle, l'intégration progressive de la dimension humanitaire dans les théories et les analyses des relations internationales a souligné le rôle d'acteur des organisations non gouvernementales sur la scène internationale, et, ce faisant, on assiste à la naissance d'une sociologie de l'humanitaire. Enfin, le droit international a intégré l'humanitaire à travers le concept de droit d'ingérence. Pour autant, cette spécificité française n'en est qu'à ses balbutiements. Humanitarian Issues : Towards a « French School » of Analysis ?
Over the past twenty years, humanitarian issues have so frequently been featured in the governmental and social discussions in France that today one must question whether a unique « French school » of humanitarian analysis within International Relations. This specific French approach can be seen through three different angles. The contribution and experiences of researchers working in the field of humanitarian politics has engaged a first issue of reflection. On the other hand, the progressive integration of the humanitarian principle in the theories and analysis of International Relations has underlined the role of NGO's on the international scene, and therefore has assisted in the creation of a humanitarian sociology. Finally, international law has integrated the humanitarian principle through the right to interfere. However, this French approach of International Relations has only appeared in its first steps.
