XXILa Critical Race Theory a dans un premier temps largement refusé la théorie de Marx en y voyant une théorie concurrente desservant le projet de lutte antiraciste. Changeant de perspective au tournant du XXIe siècle, certains race-crits invitent à convoquer le concept de classe sociale et le modèle de critique des idéologies de Marx pour renforcer le potentiel analytique et critique des théories antiracistes. Cet article confronte la CRT des juristes et celle des philosophes à la pensée de Marx selon trois perspectives. Il retrace tout d'abord l'histoire des rapports complexes entre ces deux traditions de théories critiques ; sur un plan méthodologique, il dégage des rapprochements et prolongements théoriques possibles entre les théories critiques antiracistes et Marx ; et enfin il esquisse la manière dont l'ontologie marxiste est de plus en plus investie par certains race-crits en vue d'une justice raciale. Initially, Critical Race Theory rejected Marx's theory as a competing theory detrimental to the anti-racist project. Shifting perspectives at the turn of the 21st century, some “race crits” now use the concept of social class and Marx's model of the critique of ideology to strengthen anti-racist theories. This article confronts the CRT of lawyers and philosophers with Marx's thought from three perspectives. Genealogically, the essay traces the history of the complex relationship between these two traditions of critical theory; methodologically, it identifies possible theoretical connections and extensions between anti-racist critical theory and Marx; and finally, it outlines, for programmatic purposes, the way in which Marxist ontology is increasingly invested by some race-crits for racial justice.
