| Résumé |
La fouille des sites du Levant Nord révèle d'importants changements dans l'organisation territoriale et la nature des agglomérations durant le 3e millénaire. Les
villages jusqu'alors cantonnés près des ressources en eau sont remplacés par des
agglomérations urbaines fortifiées qui contrôlent et exploitent leurs territoires
par l'intermédiaire d'un réseau hiérarchisé d'agglomérations. Les détails de ce
mouvement d'urbanisation nous échappent encore. On constate cependant une
appropriation des espaces urbains au profit de nouvelles élites. Cette urbanisation
se double d'un vaste mouvement de conquête territoriale et du développement de
nouveaux modes de production agropastoraux. Cette concomitance des faits
résulte de l'émergence d'une aristocratie foncière. Urbanisation et développement

Archaeological excavations in the Northern Levant show important changes in the
territorial organisation and the nature of the agglomerations during the third
millennium BCE. Villages previously only located near water resources were
replaced with fortified urban agglomerations. These agglomerations controlled
and exploited their territories through hierarchical settlement networks. The
details of this urbanisation are still unknown. However, we know that urban
spaces were appropriated for the benefit of new elites. In this case, urbanisation
was connected to a significant movement of territorial conquest and the development of new mixed farming methods. This conjunction of factors resulted from
the emergence of a landowning aristocracy. Urbanisation and agricultural development were both part of the same transformation process. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |
