Le bon état de conservation des vestiges archéologiques dans la région du Levant
Sud oriental permet de dresser un état relativement précis des différentes formes
d'agglomérations qui s'y succèdent durant les 4e et 3e millénaires, avant et pendant
l'urbanisation. Il révèle la variété des solutions retenues, non seulement dans
l'organisation interne des sites, mais surtout dans leur répartition spatiale à
l'échelle régionale. Quelques exemples bien documentés permettent de mieux
comprendre le polymorphisme d'une urbanisation qui témoigne d'un changement

The well-preserved archaeological sites in the Southeastern Levant region make it
possible to draw up a relatively precise picture of the various forms of settlement
that followed one another successively during the fourth and third millennia BCE,
both before and during urbanisation. Analysis reveals the variety of solutions
adopted not only in the internal organisation of the sites, but above all in their
spatial distribution on a regional scale. A few well-documented examples provide
a better understanding of the polymorphism of urbanisation, which attests to
