Dans cet article, notre réflexion porte sur les utilisations de la catégorie du genre masculin dans un contexte de transformation de l'organisation du travail de soin hospitalier. A partir d'une perspective socio-historique de l'intégration des hommes dans l'activité de soin et des résultats d'une enquête de terrain en services hospitaliers, nous montrons comment le genre joue un rôle moteur dans la mise en œuvre du changement. Our reflexion is about the uses of male gender in the changing hospital organization of nursing work. With a social and historical approach about the integration of men in nursing and the results of “field work” in hospitals, we show how gender is essential in producing change.
