	Résumé	La défaite française de 1940 secoue l'antifascisme européen et interpelle notamment les exilés politiques en France. Silvio Trentin, exilé italien et figure de proue de l'antifascisme du Sud-Ouest, rassemble ses réflexions dans le manuscrit L'abdication de la France ou la fin d'un monde. Notes d'un survivant. Celui-ci apporte une vision originale de la perception de la fin d'un monde, dépeint le sentiment général des milieux antifascistes et permet de se pencher sur les premiers réseaux de la Résistance et sur les espoirs politiques d'une intelligentsia antifasciste européenne. À travers son analyse, cet article replace la défaite dans un cadre européen plus large. 	Résumé anglais	The French defeat of 1940 shakes up European antifascism and challenges in particular the political exiles in France. Silvio Trentin, an Italian exile and a prominent figure of the South-West antifascism, collects his thoughts in the manuscript The abdication of France or the end of a world. Notes by a survivor. This provides an original vision of the perception of the end of a world, depicts the general feeling of antifascist milieus, and gives us the opportunity to examine the first networks of the Resistance and the political hopes of a European antifascist intelligentsia. Through its analysis, this article places the defeat in a broader European framework.
