Guiart a tellement écrit en se publiant lui-même qu'il est difficile de prendre en compte toutes ses publications. Je ne présenterai ici que deux textes, l'un inédit datant de 1953, l'autre auto-publié en 2015, tous deux traitant de sa méthode en anthropologie sociale et de sa manière de conduire le terrain aux ex-Nouvelles-Hébrides pour le premier, en général, et en Nouvelle-Calédonie pour le second. Après avoir reproduit le premier, je fais du second une lecture critique au regard de ma propre pratique de terrain en Nouvelle-Calédonie, cela dans le but de recontextualiser certaines affirmations de Guiart et de montrer que, quoi qu'il en pense, il n'était pas le seul à appliquer certaines méthodes, même si nous ne le faisons pas tous de la même façon. Guiart has written so much by publishing himself that it is difficult to take into account all his publications. I will present here only two texts, one unpublished from 1953, the other self-published in 2015, both dealing with his method in social anthropology and how to lead the field, for the first one, in New Hebrides, and for the second one, in general and in New Caledonia. After having reproduced the first one, I make the second a critical reading with regard to my own field practice in New Caledonia. This was done in order to recontextualise some of Guiart's assertions and to affirm that, whatever he thought, he was not the only one applying certain methods, even if we don't do it quite the same way.
