Résumé anglais |
The history of Syrian museums is like an ouroborus, a snake that endlessly eats its own tail. These institutions, some of which are a hundred years old, have never ceased to oscillate between their liberation from an Ottoman occupying force, freedom, independence, the establishment of a new French occupying force, independence again, and, later, the arrival of a totalitarian regime still in power today despite the Syrian revolution and civil war. We will study Syrian museums in the history of the 20th century, world order, and the context of colonial practices represented by archaeology and museology. How can we analyze the mechanisms that were used through the history of Syrian museums a century ago? Source : Éditeur (via OpenEdition Journals) |
