Alors que le retrait final du Cœur entre les murs de l'hôpital résonne comme une forme d'enfermement, il s'agit d'interroger l'organisation spatiale de ce lieu qui vient ébranler le chevalier en le présentant comme un malade qui s'ignore. Multipliant les frontières (seuils, passages, limites…), il spatialise l'identité du héros afin de mieux la remodeler. Ces différentes métamorphoses, vécues au gré de la découverte des merveilles de l'hôpital – notamment l'armorial et le cimetière –, interrogent non seulement la vitalité du Cœur, mais aussi celle de la littérature dont il est l'héritier. L'opposition entre amants loyaux et déloyaux, directement inspirée de L'Hôpital d'Amour d'Achille Caulier, soulève en effet la question de la fidélité, y compris vis-à-vis d'une tradition littéraire. De fait, le séjour à l'hôpital semble mettre en tension différentes possibilités d'appréhender l'expérience amoureuse (la vivre, la lire, l'écrire). Derrière le Cœur qui visite l'édifice affin d'en savoir raconter se laisse alors entendre une voix qui vacille, cherchant une manière de survivre, en quête de matière. While the final withdrawal of the Heart within the walls of the hospital resonates like a form of confinement, it is the questioning of the spatial organization of this place that weakens the knight by presenting him as a sick person in denial. By multiplying the boundaries (thresholds, passageways, limitations…), it spatializes the identity of the hero in order to better refashion it. These different metamorphoses, experienced through the discovery of the wonders of the hospital—notably the armorial and the cemetery—question not only the vitality of the Heart, but also that of the literature it inherits. The opposition between loyal and disloyal lovers, directly inspired by Achille Caulier's L'Hôpital d'Amour, raises the question of fidelity, including with respect to a literary tradition. In fact, the hospital stay seems to put in tension different possibilities of perceiving the love experience (living it, reading it, writing it). Behind the Heart, which visits the building in order to tell about it, a wavering voice can be heard, looking for a way to survive, in search of narrative matter. Thus, while the character withdraws to the hospital, the poetic voice unfolds outside the walls, dispensing a literary diagnosis and bringing the book to the world.
