Comment être l'ami du lointain selon Thomas d'Aquin ? Après avoir décrit l'idéal d'amitié ou amitié parfaite selon Aristote et Thomas, l'étude de la vertu d'affabilité, ou amitié imparfaite, fournit certains éléments de réponse à la question posée par cette étude. Comprise comme vertu de l'amour universel, amor generalis, naturellement éprouvé envers le genre humain, la vertu d'affabilité est intégrée par Thomas à l'exercice de la vertu de charité, grâce à la réflexion d'Augustin. How can one be the friend of someone far off, according to Thomas Aquinas? After having described the ideal of friendship, or perfect friendship, according to Aristotle and Thomas, the study of the virtue of affability, or imperfect friendship, provides some elements of an answer to the question posed by this study. Understood as a virtue of universal love, amor generalis, naturally felt towards the human race, the virtue of affability is integrated by Thomas into the exercise of the virtue of charity, thanks to the reflection of Augustine.
