| Résumé |
La légèreté du dispositif filmique, la polyvalence du chercheur-cinéaste, le principe de non-intervention sur le réel observé et le caractère expérimental de la démarche ethnofilmique constituent, d'une part, l'expression d'une débrouillardise scientifique permettant de mener une recherche ethnofilmique avec des moyens financiers limités. D'autre part, cette sobriété de gestes et de moyens peut être considérée comme la stratégie méthodologique la plus adaptée pour décrire et représenter le réel. À partir de la comparaison entre deux expériences professionnelles de production documentaire – une pour la télévision, avec des moyens significatifs et selon une logique semi-industrielle ; l'autre en autoproduction, avec des moyens limités et selon une logique artisanale – sont analysés les rapports entre la restitution du réel, l'organisation du travail et les moyens techniques employés. L'analyse montre que la frugalité permet de contrôler les moyens de production et d'atteindre ainsi une certaine autonomie au travail. The lightness of the filmic device, the versatility of the researcher-cinematographer, the principle of non-intervention on the observed reality and the experimental character of the ethnofilmic approach constitute, on the one hand, the expression of a scientific resourcefulness that allows ethnofilmic research to be carried out with limited financial means. On the other hand, this sobriety of gestures and means can be considered as the most appropriate methodological strategy to describe and represent reality. Based on a comparison of two professional documentary production experiences—one for television, with considerable means and using a semi-industrial logic; the other relying on self-production, with limited means and according to a craft logic—the relationships between the restitution of reality, the organization of work and the technical means employed are analyzed. The analysis shows that frugality makes it possible to control the means of production and thus to achieve a certain autonomy at work.
