En cette année 2015, qui verra la France accueillir en décembre la 21ème Conférence des parties (COP21), il m'a été donné d'assister, le 30 juin dernier, au colloque « Changer avec le climat » organisé conjointement par l'Association française de prévention des catastrophes naturelles (AFPCN) et le Conseil général de l'Économie (CGE). Les grands enjeux du changement climatique y ont été débattus sur la base de perspectives dressées en matière économique, technique et sociétale. Le présent compte-rendu des travaux du colloque (agrémenté de quelques digressions) décrit notamment trois exemples de filières économiques susceptibles de contribuer à une bonne gestion du cycle de carbone, au travers d'actions allant de projets prométhéens et transnationaux à des solutions plus champêtres et de dimension locale. Face aux incertitudes qui s'attachent tant à l'ampleur des bouleversements climatiques qu'au montant des investissements à réaliser, une chose paraît certaine : les meilleures solutions sont celles qui permettent à la fois une bonne adaptation au changement climatique et une réduction sensible des émissions de gaz à effet de serre. A young engineer's thoughts after the CGE-AFCPN conference on 30 June 2015, “Changing with the climate”In this year of 2015, when France will be hosting in December the 21st Climate Conference (COP21), I had the privilege of attending, on 30 June, the conference on “Changing with the climate” organized by the Association Française de Prévention des Catastrophes Naturelles (AFPCN) and the Conseil général de l'Économie (CGE). The major issues related to a changing climate were debated from economic, technical and societal approaches. This review of the conference, laced with a few digressions, focuses on three examples of economic sectors that could contribute toward a better management of the carbon cycle through actions ranging from Promethean transnational projects to solutions with a rural or local dimension. Despite the uncertainty about the scope of climate change and the amount of investments to be made, one point stands out : the best solutions are those that allow for an adaptation to climate change and an appreciable reduction of greenhouse gases.
