Dans l'histoire des études de communication, les approches matérielles jouent rarement un rôle et n'ont pas été systématiquement explorées. Cet article vise à mettre au jour les premiers concepts matériels autour du journal dans les études allemandes sur les journaux au début du XXe siècle. Plus qu'aujourd'hui, les journaux étaient alors considérés comme des artefacts contenant des connaissances inhérentes qu'il fallait rendre accessibles et tangibles. Dans cette optique, les collections de journaux sont apparues comme des infrastructures et des espaces spécifiques pour l'archivage, la collecte, le stockage, la préservation et le traitement des journaux, offrant un accès matériel à la génération de connaissances. Ces développements seront étudiés en liant l'archéologie des médias et l'épistémologie historique à une perspective « pratique » d'histoire des sciences. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |

In the history of communication studies, material approaches rarely play a role and have not been systematically explored. The article aims to unearth early material concepts around the newspaper within German newspaper studies at the early 20th century. More than nowadays, at that time newspapers were viewed as artefacts that contained inherent knowledge which had to be made accessible and tangible. With this in mind, newspaper collections emerged as specific infrastructures and spaces for archiving, collecting, storing, preserving, and processing newspapers which provided a material-based access to knowledge generation with newspapers. These developments will be investigated by linking media archaeology and historical epistemology to the concept of a ‘hands-on' perspective of science history. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |
