L'article analyse la situation économique et sociale actuelle de l'Allemagne de l'Est sur fond d'une discussion sur les modalités de l'unification économique financière et sociale en 1990. Celle-ci s'est réalisée sous la forme d'un transfert rapide à l'Est des institutions ouest-allemandes et a pris la forme d'une « thérapie de choc ». Dans un premier temps, elle entraînait en ex-RDA une véritable désindustrialisation et l'augmentation massive du chômage. La contribution évoque ensuite les grandes étapes de l'évolution de l'économie est-allemande de l'unification jusqu'aujourd'hui, marquée à la fois par une modernisation profonde et la persistance de problèmes structurels. Elle thématise également comment l'unification a, par un effet de retour, contribué à accélérer la transformation du « capitalisme rhénan », le modèle traditionnel ouest-allemand de régulation économique, et influencé en même temps la donne au niveau européen. The article analyzes the current economic and social situation in East Germany against the background of a discussion on the methods of economic, financial and social unification in 1990. This took the form of a rapid transfer to the East from West German institutions and consisted in a „shock therapy“. Initially, this led to a real deindustrialization and a massive increase in unemployment in the former GDR. The contribution then discusses the major stages in the evolution of the East German economy from unification to the present day, which is marked both by profound modernization and the persistence of structural problems. It also thematizes how unification has, through a feedback effect, contributed to accelerating the transformation of “Rhine capitalism”, the traditional West German model of economic regulation and influenced at the same time the situation at the European level.
