| Résumé | Quelles étaient les intentions du général de Gaulle pour trouver une solution à la guerre d'Algérie lors de son retour au pouvoir en 1958 ? Près de soixante ans après la fin de la guerre, le mystère demeure. Grâce à l'usage des théories du changement dans le champ de l'analyse de la politique étrangère, cet article a pour objectif d'apporter un éclairage nouveau sur le cheminement ayant conduit le général de Gaulle à déclarer l'autodétermination de l'Algérie le 16 septembre 1959. À travers l'étude croisée de l'action du président français pour peser sur son environnement national et international, l'objectif est de démontrer qu'après avoir tenté de modifier à la fois le rapport de force au niveau national et au niveau international, de Gaulle a opté pour une politique d'adaptation consentante, en réponse aux seules pressions de l'environnement international. | |
| Résumé anglais | Which were the intentions of General de Gaulle to find a solution to the Algerian war when he returned to power in 1958? Almost 60 years after the end of the war, the mystery remains. Thanks to the use of the theories of change in the field of foreign policy analysis, this article aims to provide a new perspective on the path that led General de Gaulle to declare the self-determination of Algeria the 16th September 1959. Through the crossover study of French president's action to influence its national and international environment, the purpose is to demonstrate that after trying to modify the balance of power at a national and international level, the French president opted for an acquiescent adaptation policy as a response to the pressures of the international milieu. | |
