Devant les désordres du monde d'aujourd'hui, il existe au sein du confucianisme chinois un courant qui tente, dans les termes traditionnels du tianxia, « tous sous le ciel », d'esquisser les contours d'un nouvel ordre du monde et d'un horizon soutenable pour l'avenir. En le rapportant aux perspectives marxistes, cet article s'efforce de dégager ses motifs essentiels et de décrypter les termes du débat auquel il donne lieu. Quels enseignements parvient-il à dégager de cette philosophie millénaire ? Est-il à comprendre comme une alternative au marxisme ? Ou bien serait-il capable de se repenser autour d'une critique de l'impérialisme ? L'article interroge en ce sens un auteur contemporain significatif, Zhao Tingyang. In today's chaotic world, there is a current within Chinese Confucianism that attempts, to design a new world order for the future in the terms of tianxia (“all under heaven”), a traditional vision of the world/China, which dates back to early Chinese history. Through comparisons with Marxist perspectives, this article draws out the essential points of tianxia theory and reveals the terms and stakes of debates and questions around this theory. What does such a millenarian philosophy teach us? Should we understand it as an alternative to Marxism or would it be possible to rethink it in terms of a critique of imperialism?
