Pour un certain nombre d'acteurs, l'agriculture numérique est aujourd'hui la voie privilégiée pour aborder la transition écologique qui s'impose en particulier dans les sociétés industrialisées. Présentée souvent comme la « solution » à tous les problèmes provoqués par la modernisation de l'agriculture, elle repose pourtant elle-même sur la logique industrielle qui prévaut depuis un siècle et demi dans lesdites sociétés. Alors que l'agroécologie paysanne pourrait, si elle se généralisait, nourrir la population mondiale, l'agriculture numérique perpétue une organisation industrielle de la société qui accompagne l'exploitation de la terre et la disparition de celles et ceux qui la cultivent. For a certain number of actors, digital agriculture is today the preferred way of tackling the ecological transition that is required in particular in industrialized societies. Often presented as the “solution” to all the problems caused by the modernization of agriculture, it is itself based on the industrial logic that has prevailed for a century and a half in the industrialized countries. While peasant agro-ecology could, if it became widespread, feed the world's population, digital agriculture perpetuates an industrial organization of society that goes along with the exploitation of the land and the disappearance of those who cultivate it.
