L'article s'intéresse à la caricature dans deux ouvrages comiques associant l'histoire des quarante-sept vassaux fidèles ( Chūshingura) aux arts de banquet ( zashikigei), qui consistaient notamment à imiter un objet ou un personnage : Zashikigei Chūshingura de Santō Kyōden illustré par Utagawa Toyokuni (1810) et Zashikigei dōke Chūshingura illustré par Kawanabe Kyōsai (1878). Il met en évidence la continuité formelle dans les motifs choisis par les artistes, ainsi que les transformations observées d'une œuvre à l'autre. Il met également au jour l'importance de la relation entre la caricature et la parodie littéraire, qui conjuguent leurs effets au service d'une même fin : faire rire. The paper discusses caricature in two humourous books combining the story of the forty-seven faithful retainers ( Chūshingura) with the banqueting arts ( zashikigei), which consisted of imitating an object or a human being: Zashikigei Chūshingura by Santō Kyōden illustrated by Utagawa Toyokuni (1810) and Zashikigei dōke Chūshingura illustrated by Kawanabe Kyōsai (1878). It highlights the formal continuity in the motifs chosen by the artists, but also the transformations observed from one work to another. It also underlines the importance of the relationship between caricature and literary parody, which combine their effects to serve the same purpose: to make people laugh.
