À la fin de la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale et de la Guerre froide, ce cercle de sociabilité se fixa pour mission de promouvoir les orientations de la politique étrangère italienne. Placé par ses fondateurs au service d'un État dominé par la démocratie chrétienne, il défendit l'atlantisme, la construction européenne, les liens renouvelés avec l'Afrique. Sorte d'académie dont la principale qualité était de s'abriter derrière un apolitisme proclamé, il témoigne de certains éléments de continuité entre l'entre-deux-guerres et l'après-1945 : ses fondateurs, issus de la diplomatie nationaliste mise au service du fascisme, contribuèrent notamment à faire perdurer les thèmes du projet européen et de sa projection vers l'Afrique, dans une perspective anticommuniste. At the end of the Second World War and in the context of the Cold War, this sociability network set itself the task of promoting the orientations of Italian foreign policy. Placed by its founders at the service of a state dominated by Christian democracy, it defended Atlanticism, European construction and renewed links with Africa. As a sort of academy whose main quality was to hide behind a proclaimed apolitical stance, it bears witness to certain elements of continuity between the interwar years and the post-1945 period: its founders, who stemmed from nationalist diplomacy in the service of the Fascist regime, contributed to perpetuating the themes of the European project and its projection towards Africa, from an anti-communist perspective.
