Être une femme sans abri, « habitante de la rue » comme on dit en Amérique latine, est une obligation de marcher sans trêve pour la moindre activité. Ces femmes n'ont pas les moyens de payer les transports en commun, alors elles marchent pour se rendre aux services administratifs, aux associations, aller manger, se rendre sur les lieux où elles font la manche, là où elles stockent leurs affaires, ou aller là où elles dorment. Elles marchent parfois une partie de la nuit ou la nuit tout entière pour ne pas s'exposer aux agressions. Vivre à la rue est une contrainte permanente de marcher. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |

Being a homeless woman – or, to cite the Latin American term, “habitante de calle ” (“street dweller”) – means always having to walk, ceaselessly, in order to accomplish anything. Walking is the only way to get around. Because homeless women are not able to pay for public transportation, they have to walk to obtain public services, visit associations, find food and places suitable for begging, store their belongings, and sleep.
