La Commission internationale pour la protection du Rhin (CIPR), organisation intergouvernementale fondée en 1950 et regroupant huit États situés dans le bassin du Rhin ainsi que l'Union européenne, travaille depuis 2007 sur la thématique du changement climatique dans un contexte transfrontalier. Elle a réalisé des études sur les répercussions possibles du changement climatique sur le régime des eaux, la température de l'eau et l'écologie. Sur la base de scénarii de débit pour le futur proche (jusqu'en 2050) et le futur éloigné (jusqu'en 2100), la CIPR a mis au point en 2015 une stratégie d'adaptation au changement climatique qui sera remise à jour d'ici 2025 selon le programme « Rhin 2040 ». The International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine (ICPR), an intergovernmental organisation founded in 1950 and bringing together eight states located in the Rhine basin as well as the European Union, has been working on the issue of climate change in a cross-border context since 2007. It has carried out studies into the possible repercussions of climate change on water regimes, water temperature and ecology. On the basis of flow scenarios for the near future (up to 2050) and the distant future (up to 2100), the CIPR developed a climate change adaptation strategy in 2015, which will be updated by 2025 under the “Rhine 2040” programme.
